09 Sep Stonefields Reserves
- Design and detail streetscape on a large scale
- Connect 11 neighbourhood parks
- Incorporate cultural and environmental sensitivities into the design
As Auckland’s largest master planned community, Stonefields encompasses a new urban village, consisting of a town centre, primary school, public parks and a diverse range of housing.
Stonefields is a unique site of cultural and archaeological significance, as this area was home to one of the largest Maori settlements in Aotearoa.
Each of the reserves at Stonefield’s serve the diverse open space needs of the community and provide for a range of activities and experiences. The vegetation types and materials link to the wetland. The reserves also introduce fruiting trees, which add a productive element to the landscape.
“A very well conceived, balanced and implemented design.Crisp and smart without being minimalist, character and interest without being cluttered, durable without being boring.”
