South Island motorway contract won

South Island motorway contract won

Natural Habitats has been recognised as being the ‘best value for money’ yet again, with our Christchurch division awarded a major contract to work on a multi-million dollar roading project.

The team successfully tendered for Christchurch Southern Motorway – Stage 2 (CSM2) and are due to start working on the project towards the end of 2017.  The contract involves planting and soft landscaping including three years of maintenance work.

Our Managing Director, Graham Cleary says this contract is the latest in a string of successful tenders across New Zealand.

“Our track record with completed motorway projects around Christchurch, and in the North Island showed we are one of the best, if not the best at these large scale projects,” says Graham. “We score highly across all the main attributes being evaluated by the consortium partners from proven management skills through to safety systems.”

“Natural Habitats has also demonstrated an ability to have a positive influence on the initial design process and introduce innovations providing a best value return for the budget.”

“We’re looking forward to working with the Downer / McConnell Dowell JV as well as the NZ Transport Agency who is funding the project on behalf of the Government.”

The $195 million CSM2 project is part of the Government’s Christchurch Roads of National Significance programme, a $900 million plan to make it easier and safer to travel throughout Christchurch and the Canterbury region. The CSM2 is expected to be open to traffic in 2020.
