Setting the Scene

23 September 2020

The Natural Habitats team delivered a design and build landscape of this large-scale swimming pool and garden project in St Heliers.

The design objective was to create a seamless transition between the existing architecture including mature trees, and the new landscape. Our designer sought to enhance the feeling of enclosure and privacy offered by existing vegetation.

Location: Auckland

Date Completed: 2010

Project Type: Residential design and build, swimming pool and garden

Awards: For this project, Natural Habitats was proud to receive the following Landscapes of Distinction Awards (large project category):

Gold - Landscape Design
Gold - Landscape Horticulture
Gold - Landscape Construction

The swimming pool was carefully positioned spanning the site to act as the retaining wall for the new patios and spa platform. A fully automated pool cover and pool sanitization system maximised client enjoyment. With the pool extending across the site, the junction between the drop-off and the bush beyond was made into a dramatic feature, which is especially grand with lighting features at night.

Lighting effects to further enhance the night experience have been installed on the sofa wall, in the pool and spa, throughout the garden beds and for a flaming copper fire wok on the upper patio.

The gradient of the site and other geotechnical issue presented many difficulties for the design and build teams, but they overcame obstacles for the successful delivery of a grand garden to a delighted client.

For this design, Natural Habitats was proud to receive the following Landscape of Distinction Awards (in the large project category):

  • Gold - Landscape Design
  • Gold - Landscape Horticulture
  • Gold - Landscape Construction
