Mindfood Exert
Living walls are popping up everywhere. Mindfood takes a closer look at one of the latest eco interiors to grace New Zealand. Green walls are springing up in corporate spaces across the globe with the newly opened Novotel Auckland International Airport Hotel joining the ranks.
New Zealand company Natural Habitats has created green walls for Stephen Marr hair salon and the Britomart East building and has just installed the latest living wall in the The Square Bar. According to Lydia Franken of Natural Habitats, the vertical vegetation will improve the bar's indoor air quality by increasing humidity levels and removing air pollutants.
As a bio system the wall supports indigenous flora and fauna. "It has a macro integrated pest system says Pete de Jager of Natural Habitats. "We found a frog living in one of the colospernum epiphytes!" This green wall really is alive. Make mine the green frog cocktail.
