Design-Build
Remuera, Auckland
The owners of this grand garden had a vision of quality, scale and preservation of existing features that enabled Natural Habitats to create a property of impressive proportion. We were the responsible for the landscape design and build of this property.
Designer Mark Read was responsible for the landscape design which included site layout, water features, lighting, flares, stonework, walls, stairs, detailing, bridge, gates, planting design. The Victorian influence of the original villa, which dates from the 1870’s is carried through into the new guest house/pavilion and gardens, incorporating original homestead features in a seamless transition from old to new.
The owners empowered Natural Habitats landscape team through positive support and feedback that allowed multiple creative avenues to be explored. Basalt stone has been beautifully crafted to the elegant staircases, paving, retaining walls, fireplace and intricately ornate solid steel street gates and impressive flares incorporated into the work. At the base of the master staircase lies a period compass mosaic inlaid into the stone work. Handmade and painstakingly installed it adds an enchantment and a real sense of adventure.
The final result is one of grand scale, while still blending in with the established surroundings of the area.
"Whenever I wander through my garden I feel inspired and completely uplifted."
