David Lange Memorial

Natural Habitats is adept at implementing existing design plans and was contracted to construct the memorial and worked closely with renowned sculptor Virginia King, who was confident in our ability to uphold the integrity and accuracy of her design intent.

The David Lange Memorial was conceived as an outdoor room, a tranquil space for contemplation and reflection. The room was created by recessing the courtyard in the land, embraced by mounds of earth, native planting and large boulders. Sixteen poles, representing the community, surround the courtyard and support a suspended vessel, completing the enclosure of the space.

We also completed the newest stairs and gardens at the David Lange Memorial on behalf of the David Lange Trust. For this work we endeavoured to use as many of the same team who installed the original memorial as possible to ensure a seamless connection between the two projects was achieved.
