Living Green

We take care to protect and enhance New Zealand’s native biodiversity while creating safe environments which enhance amenity value and commercial viability.

Natural Habitats is considered to be at the forefront of environmental thinking, especially in the field of green technology.  Our perspective is a holistic one which considers the entire life cycle of the landscape.  By employing a range of “natural”, ecologically based solutions we can lower the impact of your development.

Our approach reduces the risk of plant failure, produces quality landscapes that stand the test of time, and reduces the lifetime costs of the landscape - saving you both time and money.

In our work we are mindful of:

• AILA SUSTAINABLE SITES INITIATIVE Guidelines and Performance Benchmarks 2009
• LID; Low Impact Design Manual for the Auckland Region 2000
• CPTED; Crime Prevention through Environmental Design
• Permaculture principles

This new paradigm of design, in which eco-literacy is a prerequisite, requires us to be bold, be brave and take responsibility for the development of our natural and urban environment. We endeavour to connect organic life with inanimate structure and innovation with preservation in order to truly achieve sustainable design.

As a company we support the Sustainable Business Network, measuring and offsetting our carbon emissions. We are also helping to revegetate Great Barrier Island, and are constantly looking for ways to make our work cleaner and greener.

Natural Habitats is committed to doing the very best we can for our communities and the environment, and delivering the very best in design build and care.  Our green fingers are an extension of Natural Habitats verdant heart and we invite you to discuss sustainability options for your project with us. No garden is too small, too urban or too difficult to integrate a more sustainable approach.
